A FEW more days. Then America will cast her vote. For Simba VanderBus. Simba, because as a feline, I will become the country’s very first Lion King.
From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There’s more to be seen than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
More women will be voting for me than men. Women understand the Circle of Life better.
Some say eat or be eaten
Some say live and let live
But all are agreed as they join the stampede
You should never take more than you give
A cat as president of the United States. With boots or without. Twenty nails. Eyes that see clearer than men do, even though I possess only one. One is enough where two can easily be too many.
Some of us fall by the wayside
And some of us soar to the stars
And some of us sail through our troubles
And some have to live with the scars
My election offers hope for man and beast of all nations. The day I single-handedly forced a city bus to stop was the day a new generation awoke. A new day, future, faith, trust in the outcome.
There’s far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps the great and small on the endless round
Up and on our way.
On the path unwinding
In the Circle, the Circle of Life.
Vote cat. Vote Simba. Vote VanderBus.
* VanderBus left home at the age of six weeks and went hunting for a city bus in Maine. He caught the bus. It cost him one eye, but he won a standing ovation from everyone who watched him do it. VanderBus, since then mayor of Bicker Hollow, is running for president of the United States.
