THE small city of Breda, Iowa was built on a railroad that no longer exists, but instead of the rails there’s now a 30-mile-long bike path, after a good-old Brabant custom.
In New Jersey, Breda is a busy seller of shotguns. They are originally Italian, they say, but Dutch Americans shrug their shoulders and point to that other Breda, Inc. in Meridian, Idaho where they make beds that fit into smaller bedrooms like those in Holland. They call themselves BredaBeds and are located on Nelis Drive.
