DUTCH

THE largest Easter egg factory in America is in Florida, and has been named PAAS for a century and a half.

Founder William Townley used the Dutch word on purpose, because his neighbors in Newark, New Jersey were Dutch. They dyed their Easter eggs, hid them, children went searching in the yard, and on Easter Sunday the whole family tapped each other’s eggs to see who had the sturdiest egg. Townley loved all that, and he never forgot those Dutch words, Pasen and Paasdag.

At Paas, they make Easter egg dye as well as Easter egg candy. Last year they sold 16 million sets of dye, this year it will be even more.

Enjoy your Easter egg, Sunday!
