This is how you got on a streetcar in New York, a century ago. This one stopped right in front of the Sherry Netherland hotel, on the corner of Central Park.
Sherry was the name of the chef, and Netherland, the origin of Caroline Schermerhorn. She was the aunt of the hotel owner, and chased him out of town and out of the country after a family feud.
A Dutch touch with cojones. The hotel is still there.
